Savonius VAWT wind turbine capable of producing 72vdc on the kitchen table! 9 year old daughter wanted to do a wind turbine for her science fair and here it is. She helped build it and did 100% of the science, but could not convince the judges in 1 minute that she knew all the science and functions and that she had put over 80 hours into it so, she did not win….bummer….

The state of Wisconsin allows 400 foot tall turbines to be sited 1000 feet from non-participating residents homes unless a town or county adopts an ordinance which gives residents greater protection for reasons of health and safety. As of March, 2009 there is pending legislation which would strip towns, villages and counties of the ability to create more protective ordinances than those approved by the PSC.
