How can I make a composite material to build wind turbines with recycled material?
My father and his friends are trying to start a buisness building wind turbines, and we have been trying to figure out a good material to make them out of, that we can use recycled material Eg. milk jugs, cans, etc.
We have almost every resource you can think of and lots of different machines to work with. Cranes, everything.
Any suggestions would be very helpful, the reason they’re doing this is because they are being laid off as millwrights.
Its so hard to find good materials for wind turbines. Manufacturers of wind turbines use very specific materials. But if you want to build one for you from recycled materials, its good but efficiency of turbine will be very small. I build one wind turbine from plastic pipe :

If a guy had an unlimited supply of plastic materials he might find himself using a milk jug as a base material for a wind turbine. However to make a turbine work for a valuable amount of time at turbine speed there is a lot of thought in the middle. My suggestion to everyone who asks this is that they go look at what is actually out there now. Then go back and see what you have and find a reason to use yours instead of theirs. This goes for aluminum,plastic , steel, carbon from tires or milk jugs. If a guy could find a niche as a supplier of these component parts for another concern maybe that would be the best avenue to take. Making an effective wind generator is pretty tough. If you could just hang a prop on a pole everyone would have one out already. Its nearly that way now. In the future instead of 3 bladed monsters on the skyline look for horizontal mills that look like old push lawnmowers. they are much easier to work on and are just as efficient. The tilt up model will be vertical but will work in your backyard…A good millwright is hard to find ..good luck to to and yours…From the E…
