Fair comment. These are both environmental issues, so a balance has to be found. I think that generating more electricity in the same area as larger turbines would reduce the amount of wind farms required. Are simple ideas like caging around the turbine proven failures?

As I understand, the large wind turbines have brakes that prevent them from spinning too fast. You’ve probably seen the videos of the failing on here. If large w.t.s need slowing down, maybe there’s quite an energy gain using smaller turbines in the same area. If that’s right, it’s just an issue of cost isn’t it?

Getting as much energy efficiency as possible from renewable sources will mean that there’s likely to be a lot going on in a small area. The aim of it being small is likely to mean that more of them can be installed on the same site. If it works, it’s good!
